Ceiling/Roof
Description
Thomas Staub
A vault, covered by plaster, crowns the corridor. Only at its southernmost part, some of the plaster has fallen down. Here the preparatory work for a better attaching of the plaster is visible: imprints of reeds can be seen in the under plaster, thus the vault was covered in a canuccia technique. At app. 1.8 m from the southern end, a skylight is lightening the corridor. The plaster covering its sides is mostly fallen down, only at the northern side some remains are preserved. These show that the opening in the ceiling was square-formed, tapering towards the floor of the upper storey, where the opening has a rounded form.
Thickness of ceiling and floor of upper storey: 0.62 m.
