Wall decoration (extant)
Description
Thomas Staub
Some remains of the decorations are preserved, mainly on the west (socle and middle zones) and the east (parts of upper zone) walls. The socle zone, of which some remains are visible on all walls, is 0.75 m high with a joint towards the middle zone. It is decorated with yellow and red splashes on a dark, probably black, ground and a 0.05 m high stripe as a border towards the middle zone. On the west wall, in 0.20 m height, remains of a 0.01 m high horizontal line can be observed, and at 0.93 and 1.04 m distance from the north-west corner, vertical, app. 0.008 m wide, lines of a light colour. The vertical ones are situated in line with the vertical dividers in the middle zone.
The middle zone (height 1.35 m) was divided into three red painted fields, the middle one 1.05 m, and the side ones 0.90 m wide. Two app. 0.08 m wide vertical stripes of unknown colour separated the fields from each other; the corners are marked by green, 0.07 m wide, lesenes with a thin (0.002 m) white line towards the wall. The dividing line towards the upper zone is 0.05 m high in a light colour.
Some elements of the upper zone are visible on the east wall. A 0.31 m high, probably yellow, stripe is visible at the bottom, followed by a 0.08 m high stripe, thereafter a 0.32 m high stripe, followed by a 0.05 m high line, all of unknown colour. Above this, only some remains of red paint can be observed.
