West Wall
Description
Thomas Staub
W wall: width 3.20 m, max. preserved height 4.50 m. The door towards V 1,3, corridor 3 (closed up after excavation), is placed directly in the south-west corner in prolongation of the south wall, the width is 0.95 m, and the height, up to the modern lintel, is 2.15 m. The lower northern corner of the doorframe is cut off for 0.05 m to allow the insertion of the lava threshold (width 1.00 m). Plaster covers the northern part of the wall from 1.10 m from the south-west corner to the north-west corner, up to a height of 3.10 m, still showing faint traces of the decorations. Above the lintel over the door to V 1,3, 0.30 m are reconstructed in modern times, above this, for 0.20 m, the lava-incertum is visible and above this, in app. 2.80 m height, the zone with cruma-incertum commences, which is visible in the uppermost zone above the plaster on the entire wall. Both the south and north walls seem to abut against the west wall.
