Room 12

Description

Thomas Staub

This room, opening up to the south east corner of peristyle b served as staircase to the upper floor in this part of the house, as entrance way to the small adjacent room c and in the rear part, entered through a doorway from room a, probably as storage space. All the walls except for the east wall, which is part of the east boundary wall of the house, belong to a later building phase, as can be seen by the lack of the characteristic building materials else belonging to the original phase of the house. If the originally room had similar dimensions or was part of a larger room together with its northern neighbour cannot be determined.

This part of the house was probably excavated sometimes between 1876 and 1878, not documented.

Dimensions: 3.25 x 1.25 m = 4.06 m2.
