Floor

Description

Thomas Staub

The floor in this room consists of a white lime-cement with inserted pieces of both white travertine and coloured (blue, red, yellow, grey, green, black) limestone. This is the same floor as in room 6, since it continues underneath the separating wall. The floor reaches under the plaster, but does not abut against the threshold. At the southern part of the east wall, the floor surface seems broken and continues further into the wall, as at the east wall of room 6. This could be an indication for an earlier niche for a cline, filled in when the originally larger room was divided into two.
