Threshold
Description
Thomas Staub
At the opening towards the anteroom, one travertine stone (0.12 x 0.14 m) is placed on each side in the floor. They both have one rectangular carving (0.04 x 0.03 m, 0.005 - 0.01 m deep) at their outer side (nearest the doorframe).
Threshold of the anteroom:
The threshold in the door towards atrium4 seems to be made of marble. It is probably reused in this placing since it is slightly too narrow and both sides are cut off, leaving only small parts of the original carvings at the sides. In addition, the rim and lower surface, over which the door opened, is covered by the pavement of the northern part of the anteroom 6, and is only visible at the western edge of the threshold, where parts of the floor are broken away. On both sides, trapezoid carvings are made for the insertion of the wooden doorframes.
