The southern part, extending up to the southern doorpost of the opening towards fauces3 (1.1 m wide) is built in opus quadratum using tuff stone blocks. Seven rows of blocks are preserved, the lowest two with a height of 0.82 m, the others with a height of 0.7 m. The northernmost tuff block in the sixth row shows a stone cutters mark in the form of a star composed of three overlapping lines. The door opening, leading to vestibulum1 is situated app. 0.18 m north of the N-W corner . Above the door opeing (in a height of 2.7 m) a row of four beam holes is visible, each 0.15 x 0.30 m large, separated by 0.25 m from each other. The section between the doors is covered with plaster with traces of black or dark colour up until a h of 1.50 m.
The northern part is up to 2.6 m height taken up by the doorway towards fauces3. The lintel and the next 0.3 m are modern. After that follows a app. 0.4 m high section made of opus incertum of mainly lava, set in a reddish mortar. Above this it consists of more mixed material containing also some larger (0.2 m x 0.35 m) blocks, eventually a modeern repair with modern concrete. The jambs framing the door to fauces3 show 0.05 m wide beltings.
