North Wall

Description

Thomas Staub

Width: 1.75 m, max preserved height: 3.6 m. The wall is made of an almost pure sarno stone opus incertum, containing some lava and cruma as well. The mortar is not determinable, since it is covered by modern concrete. A few larger blocks are integrated, up to 0.8 x 0.2 m. A few remains of plaster are still preserved, mainly near the n-w corner. The uppermost 0.3 m are probably a modern reconstruction.
