Floor
Description
Renée Forsell
The floor is maid of a not especially well preserved cocciopesto mixed with fragments of travertine. There is a 0.60m wide disturbance trans versing the floor from the threshold towards the SW corner. Above this is a very poorly preserved layer of cocciopesto. The disturbance corresponds to a drain leading the water from the impluvium of the atrium to a cistern in the neighbouring taberna 31. Either the drain has been laid after the floor or the drain was opened and repaired at some time in both cases it was then covered with an inferior cocciopesto which has eroded faster than the rest of the floor.
