Floor

Description

Renée Forsell

The corridor has a lava pesta floor. By the time of the investigation it was badly damaged and only preserved in fragmentary patches mainly in the W part and along the N and S walls. In the E part the floor was totally gone. In some of the patches the floor surface is intact while in others it is damaged. In between the patches remains of floor bedding was found.

On the N side the floor abuts to the plaster on the wall, which means that wall was constructed before the floor and also that the door was walled up before the floor was constructed. However along the west part of the south wall the plaster is on top of the floor an indication that the south wall, the whole or just the dado was re-plastered.
