Hearth
Description
Renée Forsell
The L shaped hearth is built against the SE wall of the atrium. It is built of mainly limestone. The bottom part is made of real limestone blocks with smaller stones above. There are limestone, some tiles and other terracotta fragments forming the top surface. The top surface has most likely been reconstructed. The W part is deeper and has a raised ledge along the edge. The E corner instead has been facetted so to fit the door opening of corridor 3 but stands on the threshold. The hearth bas built against the wall plaster on the S wall, which means it was a late addition to the atrium.
