West Wall
Description
Renée Forsell
The S part of the wall towards the entrance and the N part of the wall towards the atrium are made in op. testacium. In between the wall is built in op. incertum containing mostly lava stones and limestone. The mortar is yellowish to grey and heavily tempered with lava and lime. The uppermost part of the wall is reconstructed. There is also a lot of modern support plaster on the wall.
In the middle part of the wall a c. 5.5 m wide band of rough wall plaster is preserved c. 0.5-1.1 m above the floor. There are also two patches of plaster on the lower part of the wall.
