Floor
Description
A. Karivieri & R. Forsell
Description:
Three phases of flooring could be discerned. The oldest is a cocciopesto floor, located in a patch, at the distance of 0.85-1.50m from the southern part of the threshold and ca 1.50 m from the south wall. The visible part of the cocciopesto floor is ca 25 cm wide.
The second floor level was a lavapesta floor, visible along the basin in the southeast corner and along the northern wall. The second floor is destroyed ca 0.65-0.75 m south of the north wall, where a terracotta pot is buried in the floor. In the northeast corner, the lavapesta floor ends at a cistern. There are no remains of this lavapesta floor along the eastern wall.
The third floor that is also in lavapesta, is very rough and largely destroyed; it covered the second floor. Its upper surface is visible in three places, i.e. in the northwest corner of the taberna, against the threshold in the southern part, and in patches in the centre of the floor.
State of preservation: The floor is heavily disturbed and has several repairs.
Dimensions: 5.56 m (N-S) x 3.96 m (E-W)
