Room q
Description
A. Karivieri & R. Forsell
Room q was the easternmost of the rooms opening up to the N portico. It probably ensured communication with the service- and kitchen-area of the neighbouring V 1,23 through an opening in the north wall. In its latest stage the opening has the shape of a large window. In an earlier phase it was a door opening connecting the two parts of the house. Room q also connected the service- and kitchen-area of the North House with the cantina located below room s.
A second storey stood above this part of the house. It was here, in a room located adjacent to the eastern part of the north portico that the famous archive with 153 wax-tablets was found.
