South Wall

The wall is located between a and taberna 27, it has an east-west orientation.
Description:
The wall is built with Sarno limestone blocks in the corner towards the atrium and in the façade towards W and the main part was made in opus incertum, the filling consisting of limestone, cruma, a piece of yellow tuff, and a piece of pink tuff. Highest up in the west corner of the wall, there is a tuff block supporting the door lintel. The stones in the filling are ca. 10-25 cm wide and 10-15 cm high. At the centre of the wall, at the height of 0.70-0.82 m, there is a 44 cm wide repair made with bricks.
Wall plaster:
The wall painting is preserved in the lower eastern part of the wall, preserved to the height of 0.72m. The dado is 0-0.59m high. In the main zone a yellow decoration on white background can be discerned. The wall-plaster ends 0.20 m from the eastern corner, where the wooden doorposts would have been. There are also remains of wall-plaster along the floor in the western part of the wall.
State of preservation: the upper part is missing. The wall is reinforced on the surface with modern cement.
