Floor
Description
A. Karivieri & R. Forsell
The floor is partly destroyed.
Description: the floor consists of a rough cocciopesto. Its upper surface is mainly destroyed. There are few but large terracotta fragments in the mortar. The cocciopesto is destroyed in large patches along the north side of the floor.
The floor is laid against the foundation on which the steps leading to room b reclines. This staircase foundation seems to be mostly mortar and it is destroyed in its southern part.
When cleaning the pozzo in the southeast corner of the room an older cocciopestofloor was spotted.
This floor and the area around thepozzo are blackened, possibly due to fire. The latest cocciopesto floor was laid against the earlier wall plaster visible on the east wall. The soil at the bottom of the pozzo was almost wet.
