South Wall
Description
Henrik Boman & Monika Nilsson
The south wall of the peristyle-viridarium area is the short wall which constitutes the western part of the wall between rooms h and i, and which partly covers the face of the southern oven, as seen from within room h. The oven is retracted from the line of the south wall.
The wall is built in lava incertum, as is the lower part of the oven. Along the floor several layers of plaster are preserved, the oldest one being a type A while the two later coatings are identified as type I.
In 2008 the upper part and the western end of the wall were reconstructed.
